I’m a historically trained sewist with a passion for creating garments inspired by the past.
When I was a child, I read an Æsops fable that has always stuck in my mind; The Rose and the Amaranth. Paraphrasing it, the Amaranth said to the Rose, “You’re so beautiful and smell so sweet and everyone loves you, while I’m so plain.” The Rose replied, “My dear Amaranth, my beauty and scent soon fades even if nobody picks me. Your beauty is simple, understated, and immortal.”
So that is what I do. My bespoke creations are the Amaranth, timelessly elegant and immortal. My alterations and repairs are the Rose, extending the life of fast fashion as much as possible.
